Founded in 1901, the
Gillette Company is the world leader in male grooming products, a category that includes
blades, razors and shaving preparatory utilities. Besides being the leader in the male
grooming section it managed to absorbed the female population with its superb products for
women.
Its diversification during the past few decades made it
possible for the acquisition of companies, all leaders in their market. Such companies are
Waterman and Sheaffer writing instruments and more recently it acquired the leader in the
home appliances batteries market, Duracell.
Stambouli Bulgaria Ltd. has been importing and distributing
Gillette products since 1991, starting with the basic razors for men, growing to a present
number of 80 references only in the men's section. We currently import the whole range of
products from Gillette, for men and women.
The success of Gillette lies in the superb quality of the
products it has to offer and the trust that the people have put into the products.
Since 1991, the year we begun importing Gillette, we have
managed to attain an 80% market share for razors and an extraordinary 98.5% in shaving
systems. Due to our commitment to Gillette we have been the exclusive importers and
distributors since 1994.
Our well organized distribution
network enabled us to grasp the entire market of Bulgaria in very little time and our
dedication to our customers led us to create a specialized team of salesman, concentrating
solely on Gillette products.
Known for
its marketing policy, Gillette has promoted the following events:
1994- World Cup USA. In collaboration with
Gillette we
gave out gifts, in various promotional events, like T-shirts and hats while the biggest
price we offered during the World Cup was a car, Daewoo Racer.
1998- World Cup France. Our customer oriented
promotion called "Get into the Game" awarded T-shirts, sports bags, caps and
tickets to the finals in France.
Acknowledging the fact that our sales are largely
based upon our salesmen, we created an incentive program for our salesmen. The awards
consisted of a TV set, a stereo and a CD player. In addition, a salesman and a wholesaler
were given, as part of the competition, a weeks holiday to France, tickets and
accommodation paid, including free tickets to see the final of the World Cup.
